Quick update / post-Covid reviews

So as most of you know – I had Covid at the end of December/begin of January. I first had symptoms on Dec 25th, was tested the 29th and given Positive results on Dec 31st. Yes, thank you 2020 for one last kick in the pants. Luckily I had a small viral load and got through it, though it wasn’t easy. I have many pre-existing conditions and was told I wouldn’t survive it if I got it – again, luckily a small viral load and I did. But it’s no joke and should never be treated as such. I am beyond grateful just to be able to sit here and type this out as almost everyday I cry for a few minutes thinking of those 500,000 in just the U.S. alone – that aren’t able to do something this simple.

That being said, there is a lot of things that happen to most post-Covid. I have no sense of smell or taste, brain fog, fatigue, peeling nails, hair loss, and weirdly I got these cysts on my hands and wrists area. They grew so fast that what I thought was three different cysts on my left hand, is actually one large cyst spreading through it. It’s extremely painful and I have got wrist supports for both my hands, but it has prevented me from typing for any extended period of time. I have quite a few reviews to write, and am struggling to do so – so I’m trying to figure out a way to do voice text and just have to polish them up. Until then, I’m going to do my absolute best – but I wanted to put this out there so people don’t think I’m just not reviewing their films, or responding back to them. It’s the absolute busiest time of year with all the awards coming up, and I’m so annoyed at all this! But again, I am here to be able to be annoyed at it so I have to always remember that.

Covid changes your life people, and I hope all of you stay safe and get vaccinated when possible. To a better 2021 for all of us.. Cheers!

Peggy

  1. I’m very happy that you are on the road to recovery. Fortunately, I haven’t contracted COVID yet as I do practice all guidelines to prevent it. I’m very sorry to hear that you got it at the end of December. Luckily, you pushed through….though I bet it wasn’t easy.

    1. Be glad you haven’t Jason! It was hell. And I practiced everything and it’s weird after you get it I spent hours retracing every single step I took and I just couldn’t figure it out. Finally a few weeks ago I was talking to a neighbor and found out 4 people in my small building had it all at the same time. Granted we only have 2 shared spaces – it clicked that that was the ONLY way I could’ve gotten it. It felt good realizing that.. because it was killing me to know what I did. I double mask now – even though I have some immunities – I will take no risk and yes, I wear a mask in those 2 areas now, the mail area and stairs. 🙂 Thank you for your kind thoughts and stay SAFE!

  2. My 66 year old father had it and I’m positive he gave some of it to me. We were in rough shape and I lost my smell. Fortunately, we both recovered and I just recently started smelling again. I wish you all the health in the world.

    1. Thank you so much! And I wish the same for you. Did you lose your taste as well? I did..it was awful as I’d be craving something and then get it and it was like eating dust. Let’s both be thankful we are here and able to bitch about it! hahahahahaha but seriously..I’m beyond grateful to have just survived. it was awful.

  4. Dearest Peggy i just read your post .. I’m really sorry for what you have gone through .. I hope you get better soon! You are a star! Lots of love and keep those reviews coming !

  5. I’m so sorry you are going through this Peggy but I’m glad you got through what was hopefully the worst of it. I know how frustrating it is to not be able to do much of anything because you aren’t feeling well. Hope you start feeling even better soon!

    1. Thanks tons Katie!! I too am so so grateful and the fact that I am even here to make a posting about things that are happening to me..is well… really something to be completely grateful for. No matter how bad it is post-Covid – I’m actually here to be able to talk about it and while frustrating, I’m just dealing with it all as best I can. It’s sorta like good days and bad days and I will get through this as well as I am determined to do so! 🙂 Just because I can’t type well, I can still watch films and read great reviews like the ones you always post! yay!

    1. Thank you so so very much. You are also too sweet and nice and I appreciate the positive thoughts as always. I WILL get through this, though it does seem like it’s going to be a bit of a journey.. I am beyond grateful that I am even here to be able to talk about having these issues when so many are not. I just have to push through and get to 110% again and I am determined to do so as I actually think we might be able to get back in a theater sometime this summer and that thought excites me like no other! Have yourself a great weekend and speak soon!
