10 top TV shows I’m watching right now

And you should be too!! It’s been awhile since I’ve done this list and so many shows have come & gone..too many of my favs ending their series runs like Sons of Anarchy, Breaking Bad, Mad Men & Justified all in the same year for crimeny sakes. Luckily a few good news ones have popped up and I will be updating this every few weeks from now on. Now onto some great TV….
red road
THE RED ROAD (Sundance Channel)
Martin Henderson & Jason Momoa are really outstanding in this show. They play the best hardcore ‘frenemies’ I’ve seen in quite some time in a show that’s refreshingly different from the same ol’ cops & robbers genre.

the blacklist

THEBLACKLIST (NBC)

James Spader.. enough said. He is fantastic here. Add in a now all grown up-looking amazing -from 90210 –Ryan Eggold doing some decent work and Diego Klattenhoff stepping up in a good supporting and you have yourself a pretty damn good show. Megan Boone as the female lead, for some reason can be the only thorn in my side in some episodes though most everything revolves around her. I also love the complete diversity of what this cast does.

goldbergs

THE GOLDBERGS (ABC)
I’m sorry but their “Ferris Bueller” episode a few weeks ago was so so so very spot on and had me laughing harder than I have in some time. Every episode brings me back to what at the time, I thought was the worst period in my life.. turns out it was the best and Wendi McClendon-Covey kills it every single week as the mom. The whole family is just so spot on.. If you’re not watching this show, you clearly didn’t grow up in the best decade EVER!! 🙂
broolyn 99

BROOKLYN NINE NINE (FOX)
SURPRISE! Another comedy for me which is unusual because I’m very picky on my comedies as shockingly enough, I actually prefer them to be funny. And this one is. The whole cast is so deadpan spot on and work so well together I can’t stop laughing each and every episode.

Syfy_12-Monkeys_E

12 MONKEYS (SyFy)
I’m telling you..Syfy channel has been rocking it and really stepped up their game in the last few years. This show being one of the reasons and one of the best ones on TV right now period. Each episode has upped itself a notch and Aaron Stanford, Kirk Acevedo & Amanda Shull truly take this show to the next level. So granted it took me 3 episodes to realize it was based on the Bruce Willis/Brad Pitt movie, but give me a break, that was 1995!!!

broadchurch

BROADCHURCH (BBC AMERICA)
You know I love my British dramas. The first season of this show was mind-bogglingly good. Then they tried the American-ized version Gracepoint with a great cast, including David Tennant whom they said ‘couldn’t be understood by audiences in the U.K. version’ reallly.. I had no problem and still have no problem understanding him, but the U.S. version was quite awful. So now we are on Season 2 and it’s carried on from season 1 so well which I think was the big question everyone had. Could it be as good? The answer is yes.

the good wife

THE GOOD WIFE (CBS)
After a spectacular Season 5 where this show had some of the best writing I’d seen in a while for network TV.. Season 6 came back with a new firm, Florrick, Lockhart & Agos and has been a bit of a roller coaster at times swinging back n forth between good at times, but a bit confusing. But as of this past Sunday, WHOA! Don’t miss this show people.. it’s what Scandal etc. wish they could be.

Vikings

VIKINGS (HISTORY)
So it’s probably not exact history, but then what really is. We don’t know how the Vikings sounded or exactly what language they spoke, but we do know a lot of their history based upon their gods and what happened between them & the Christians. And we know they discovered America way before Columbus did and were amazing navigators & shipbuilders for their time. We also know that they were true warriors and yes, raided other countries to death. Travis Fimmel has found his calling in this role. He is perfect as King Ragnar and Clive Standen as his brother Rollo is just plain badass.. oh did I mention they are hot..well yeah, they are but the show is also reeeally good and Kathryn Winnick as the bad-ass Lagertha tops this cast off showing true girl power. This is not only a well done good show, it’s entertaining as end all.

mad men

MAD MEN (AMC)
Where would we be without Don Draper??!! Much less entertained in my opinion. This show has stunned us, made us look back in our pasts to see where our futures are.. reminded us of a way things were done not all that long ago, and done it so stylishly we’ve all just fell in love with it. The fact that this show is one of the shows I love that is ending, makes it all the harder to look forward to these last episodes. Don, Peggy, Ken, Pete, Betty, Joan, Harry, Roger and all the rest whom we grown so fond of..let’s smoke one last cigarette together while mixing a drink at work..at noon!

justified

JUSTIFIED (FX)
Oh Raylan..oh Boyd.. oh Ava.. how I will miss you so. I wouldn’t know where to begin or end with how much I love this show and how good this final season is. We are at the very end, and 3 things I will miss most.. the witty amazing dialogue, the fantastic acting by Timothy Olyphant, Walton Goggins, Joelle Carter, Jacob Pitts, Erica Tazel and Nick Searcy along with the rest of the absolutely fantastic co-stars & guest stars that have made this show, and the opening song.. Something I never fast forward through. Oh and producers/directors/writers/FX network ~ can you please give Rachel (Erica Tazel) & Tim (Jacob Pitts) there own spin-off show..pretty please.

‘THE GOOD WIFE” ~ Paleyfest Panel (2015)

paleyfest 1

Paleyfest Panel “The Good Wife” ~ Saturday, March 7, 2015

Paleyfest’s second panel of the festival brought us another highly-regarded fan favourite with the cast & creators of “The Good Wife” moderated by the quite funny James Corden, who noted that this was going to be his first time hosting any guests…as we know he is soon to take over the slot of the ‘Late Late Show” here and if this is any indication of what it will be like, the future of that show looks good!

What makes this show even more extraordinary than others as it’s such a well-written, well-executed show, that it’s on gasp! Network TV.. yes, I know, a rarity nowadays, as it seems most of the good stuff these days is on cable. This show literally goes where no man has gone before… 🙂 and does 22 episodes a year, exploring the life of these strong women characters on its 6th season of doing so no less whereas cable shows tend to do 10 – 13 eps. max. per season.

We were treated not only to a sneak peak of an entire episode (aired March 8th) but to the three main characters of this fantastic show — basically the law firm of Florrick, Agos & Lockhart was represented here with the three leads, Julianna Marguilles, Matt Czuchry & Christine Baranski along with the two creators of the show, real-life husband & wife team, Robert King & Michelle King.
TGW cast pF
To get the ball rolling here we learned some about what brought Julianna to the show as she noted “I started ER when I was 26 years old and I did that show for six great years, and it was an awesome, incredible journey for me, growing up, in a way, in this industry.” It also allowed her, when offer came her way to star in the show, to request a shift in where the show was to be filmed to New York City, her home base.

Margulies also promised that the outcome of Alicia’s election campaign is imminent. “It’s going to run its course for the next few episodes” and “You will see it resolve itself by the end of the season, for sure.” So where will her character of Alicia Florrick stand at the end.. “well when she goes back to her group – she’s a different person, so now they’re treating her differently. It’s great in that it shakes up the norm and it allows us to venture out just to come back in, in a way that keeps the characters fresh and alive.” So does this mean Alicia wins the election?? Executive producer Robert King warns that, even in victory, Alicia may be profoundly changed by the experience.
Julianna Marguilles TGW
In the meantime, everyone from the cast and creators to the fans, are preparing for the departure of key cast member Archie Punjabi, who is exiting her role as private investigator “Kalinda Sharma” at the end of this season – but unlike the shocking no-one-saw-it-coming death and exit (and I mean NO ONE) of the beloved character “Will Gardner” (Josh Charles) don’t expect Kalinda’s end to be a fatal one. As noted:

“She can’t go out Will Gardner-style because everyone knows that she’s leaving,” said Robert King “Will Gardner-style was that no one knew, so that could be a shock. Since everybody expects, it’s a whole different beast.” Whew!! well at least we know that much. Matt Czuchry aka Cary, who has been intertwined with Kalinda, romantically and otherwise for some time on the show now, says he’s been bracing himself for their final scenes together.
Christine Baranski TGW
When asked to Baranski what her romantic life might hold on the show this season, she reminded us all that she is married to “Kurt McVeigh” (Gary Cole) so that’s her romance still. As for guest stars and spin-offs..they have had and will continue to have a slew of fantastic guest stars always upping the ante. Carrie Preston’s character of “Elsbeth” was noted that it could be a possibly fun character spin-off, but nothing confirmed. I was hoping they would touch on the character of “Finn Polmar” (Matthew Goode) who seemed for a moment there to almost be a replacement for Will Gardner, but nothing was said about him or his character..dammit!
matt czuchry TGW
Lastly, when asked what things they might have in common with their characters, Marguilles replied “neatness” and that her kitchen and home look like the one on the set in terms of that. Baranski replied “nice clothes” indicating they both like to look good and the show allows her to do just that. Czuchry replied “competitive” as he is on the show..he is also in real life.

All in all… a really fun, great panel to spend a Saturday night watching.

Golden Globes: Part 2 ~ My 2014 TV picks for the winners

golden globes tv 2

I did my film picks yesterday, so these are my TV picks and they are just that..MY PICKS! 😀 This is my favourite award show as it’s both Film & TV..I mean how can you go wrong with the best of both genres drinking it up at one awards show with Tina Fey & Amy Pohler hosting. Well the answer is you can’t. You might agree or even better, you might disagree ~ it’s all good. I’m afraid I’ve missed some of the net-only shows as I truly hate watching things on a laptop when I have a comfy couch & nice TV to watch on..ahhh well.. Still..I will warn you, I did pretty well last year with my picks and this year I think I’m going to do even better. So with that..I give you #peggyatthemovies 2014 Golden Globe TV picks! Cheers!

BEST DRAMA SERIES:
“The Affair”
Liked this show a lot. It’s a completely unique drama that shows 2 sides of the coin so to speak. But it also had some slower moving episodes in the beginning that I think made it harder for some to stick with it.

“Downton Abbey”
Well I mean..it’s Downton.. Even though some say it’s lost some of it’s initial charm, I tend to disagree. The 4th season might have been it’s slowest, but they set it up well for Season 5. And can we say Matthew Goode all together now. 😀

“Game of Thrones”WINNER
Ohhhhh Game of Thrones.. how you broke me with this last season. You killed off probably one of the most hated characters ever King Joffrey, and everyone cheered. Except you got one of our favs. Tyrion arrested for his murder and making his brother, Jaime Lannister, a good guy after all. And then dammit in one of the best scenes EVER, you killed Prince Oberyn. All the while Jon Snow & the Night’s Watch are doing there thing. You blew me away. Thank you!

“The Good Wife”
Will Gardner. oh Will Gardner, we miss you. But somehow the pain is lessened a tad bit by Finn Polmar (pssst Matthew Goode AGAIN). This plus fantastic performances by a stellar cast each and every week along with spectacular writing, make this show my 2nd pick.. I won’t be upset if it wins..nope..not at all.

“House of Cards”
I hear nothing but good things about this show. I’m seriously considering getting a Google Chrome stick or Amazon Fire just to be able to watch a show like this on my TV.

BEST COMEDY SERIES: – hard to judge category for me as I’ve not seen many of the shows so not picking a winner here.

“Girls”
Just never grabbed onto this show. Tried it a few times with different seasons, just never liked it all that much.

“Jane the Virgin”
This is the surprise fun show of the season. It’s a breath of fresh air. Cute, fun, appealing and wouldn’t it be fantastic to see the CW win an award as they’ve really come up from being the joke network in the past few years.

“Orange is the New Black”
I’ve only seen one episode.. it was fun, but makes it hard to judge here.

“Silicon Valley”
Haven’t seen it.

“Transparent”
Haven’t seen it.

BEST MINISERIES OR TV MOVIE:
“Fargo”
This series was good, but it was also a complete trip at times. Sometimes I loved it and sometimes I didn’t.

“The Missing”
This was a STARZ series. A channel I’ve never had. *sigh*

“The Normal Heart”
This was an emotional story for sure with top name talent in it. I can’t say I completely loved it though, but I definitely loved parts of it.

“Olive Kitteridge”
Haven’t been able to catch this yet as I get HBO once every few months to do just that. I will soon though.

“True Detective”WINNER
I just don’t think there was a question here of what show wins. This was such a dynamic and different story with characters like we’ve not really seen before. I loved it.

BEST ACTRESS (DRAMA):
Claire Danes – “Homeland
After a slow Season 3, Homeland got off to a bit of a rough start in the first 2 eps. of Season 4. Then it went blew the roof off and went WILD!! And this was in due part to Claire Danes bringing it back ‘home’ so to speak

Viola Davis – “How to Get Away With Murder”
I adore Viola. This show, not so much. After giving it 3 1/2 eps. I just didn’t find it interesting enough to keep watching. I found some of the characters really like-able. Sadly not Viola’s.

Julianna Margulies – “The Good Wife”WINNER
When does Julianna not bring it home on this show. She is fantastic week in week out. Yes, she’s won before..but deservedly so. Give it to her again.. please.

Ruth Wilson – “The Affair”
Loved Ruth in ‘Luther’ and liked her well enough here. Just not enough for a win.

Robin Wright – “House of Cards”
Once again, I haven’t seen this show though I hear she is fantastic in it.

BEST ACTOR (DRAMA):
Clive Owen – “The Knick”
I don’t have Cinemax so I never got to see this show. Clive is a pretty fantastic actor though and I’ve heard he brings it here.

Kevin Spacey – “House of Cards
Big fan of Kevin Spacey – haven’t seen the show.

James Spader – “The Blacklist” WINNER
I’ve adored James Spader for more years than I care to count. As I always say, you’re only as good as your villain and Spader brings it to these types of roles each and every time. ‘Red’ is not a good guy, but you can’t help but want him to come out ahead and that’s thanks to Spader’s performance.

Liev Schreiber – “Ray Donovan”
There were times during the 1st season of this show where I couldn’t decide if I loved it and it was the most brilliant new show or if I hated it and it was the worst new show. Season 2 made the decision for me as they kicked ass. Liev was amazing and I won’t be upset if he wins.

Dominic West – “The Affair”
Dominic West should’ve won for ‘The Wire’ years ago. He’s good here and still sexy as ever, but not my winner.

BEST ACTRESS (COMEDY):
Lena Dunham – “Girls”
I can’t say I like the show nor her character in it which is basically her. Sorry Lena.

Edie Falco – “Nurse Jackie”
Oh how I love Jackie..She’s been a mess, cleaned herself up, well kinda sorta, and all the while is the best nurse we all want if we’re ever in hospital. It’s also the last season so if she wins I won’t be mad.

Julia Louis-Dreyfus – “Veep”
I think Julia is one of the funniest people, but I just never took to much to this role or show. I like it..don’t love it.

Gina Rodriguez – “Jane the Virgin”WINNER
Because I love an underdog and Gina is so damn charming as Jane. This show is so fresh & new and wouldn’t it be nice to have someone new, different and exciting win an award like this on their first time out. Yes. it would be is the answer.

Taylor Schilling – “Orange is the New Black”
Wish I saw more of this show.

BEST ACTOR (COMEDY):
So I’m a fan of all of these actors. But I just haven’t watched enough of any of these shows to make a fair judgement – so I’m not going to. May the best man win.

Don Cheadle – “House of Lies”
Louis C.K – “Louie”
Ricky Gervais – “Derek”
William H. Macy – “Shameless”
Jeffrey Tambor – “Transparent”

BEST ACTRESS (MINI-SERIES OR TV MOVIE):
Maggie Gyllenhaal – “The Honorable Woman”
No matter how hard I tried, I couldn’t get into this show.

Jessica Lange – “American Horror Story: Freak Show”
I remember S1 of this show..so good. Since then, well let’s just say it jumped the shark in Season 2 and never came back. Sorry Jessica..love you, but just can’t call it winner here.

Frances McDormand – “Olive Kitteridge”
Haven’t seen this yet.

Frances O’Connor – “The Missing”
Haven’t seen it.

Allison Tolman – “Fargo”WINNER
Allison was just fantastic in this show. Never had seen her before and within 2 eps I wanted to see more. And I can only hope she gets many more roles like this one.

BEST ACTOR (MINI-SERIES OR TV MOVIE):
Martin Freeman – “Fargo”
I’ve adored Martin Freeman since he played ‘Tim’ in the original version of “The Office”. Since then he’s been in so much and I’ve pretty much loved it all. And he was so good in this show. But there can be only one winner.

Woody Harrelson – “True Detective”
It’s a really really hard choice to pick between Det. Marty Hart and his partner because without one or the other, this show wouldn’t have been so completely amazing.

Matthew McConaughey – “True Detective” WINNER
Rust Cohle – just saying that should be enough to explain why I pick him as the winner. Mind-boggling performance.

Mark Ruffalo – “The Normal Heart”
Not my fav. character at all. I’m not Ruffalo’s biggest fan and he just didn’t do it for me here.

Billy Bob Thornton – “Fargo”
Billy Bob was pretty creepy good as the villain..at times..But it wasn’t consistent enough for me.

BEST SUPPORTING ACTRESS:
Uzo Aduba – “Orange is the New Black”
Haven’t seen enough of it.

Kathy Bates – “American Horror Story: Freak Show”
I can’t here..just can’t. It made me sad to see Kathy play a head on a platter in the few eps. I saw last season before I just couldn’t watch anymore.

Joanne Froggatt – “Downton Abbey” WINNER
Joanne really sunk her teeth into her character this past season and her storyline was a tough one. Considering all this, she came off very convincing as it’s a different time/era and she pulled it off. I know it will be a surprise and long shot if she wins, but again the underdog in me picks her.

Allison Janney – “Mom”
I’ve tried with this show..but I just don’t find it all that funny. Though Allison looks great and is the best part about it, just not my pick.

Michelle Monaghan – “True Detective”
Such a great show, but when you have two leads such as Woody & Matthew doing magic with their roles, you’ve just really got to step it up.

BEST SUPPORTING ACTOR:
Matt Bomer – “The Normal Heart”WINNER
For me, Matt Bomer brought it in a big way to this role. He proved that he’s just not a pretty face but can bring it when it comes to hard-core acting performances.

Alan Cumming – “The Good Wife”
Alan is wonderful in this role. It fits him like a glove and I wish I could pick him..so let’s just say I won’t be mad if he wins!

Colin Hanks – “Fargo”
Colin was uhmmm..okay in this role. Just didn’t tie it up for me.

Bill Murray – “Olive Kitteridge”
Didn’t see it, but I know Murray was good..how do I know that? because he’s Bill Murray. end of story.

Jon Voight – “Ray Donovan”
Yeah Jon Voight is pretty damn good here and yeah he will probably win…but I’m sticking with my underdog pick.

“EMMY AWARDS” ~ 2014 PICKS IN DRAMA

emmy-wallpaper-2560x1440

My favourite part of any Awards shows are the Drama categories.. In the last 10 years or so, there have been some of the best shows to ever grace a TV screen done in this category.  With cable jumping into the game around that time, it’s brought us loads & loads of great writing, acting & falling in love with TV all over again.  Have they missed a few shows over the years.. yes – they have – most notably ‘Sons of Anarchy’, ‘Justified’. and most recently Orphan Black & Rectify.  But so it goes.. Here are my picks of the shows/people that have been nominated..

Best Drama Series

“Breaking Bad”

One of the best shows to EVER grace the small screen.. I lived for Walter White and Jesse Pinkman every Sunday night..

“Downton Abbey”

Downton literally swept us off our feet in it’s first season with a wonderful portrayal of an era long past, but we all found so interesting..

“Game of Thrones”

The only season to disappoint so far in this series was S2 which after the “OHMYGOD” of Season 1 seemed almost explainable.  Season 3 came back with a vengeance and it’s been just jaw-dropping once again.

“House of Cards”

I hear nothing but raves on this show.. have yet to see an episode due to the comfy couch/big screen TV syndrome I still have.. 🙂

“Mad Men”

Who doesn’t have a love/hate relationship with Don Draper..

“True Detective” – WINNER

Rust Cohle & Martin Hart.. need I say more – probably one of the most ingenious and original shows to come out of TV in a long time!! Can we say WINNER here!!

Best Actress in a Drama Series

 Lizzy Caplan, “Masters of Sex”

Lizzy Caplan brings a fresh perspective to the 50’s perfunctory woman in this role..I love the show & her in it.

Claire Danes, “Homeland”

I love Homeland.. and at times Claire Danes does a wonderful job with the role of Carrie – but at others she is annoying as end all being like a contortionist with her facial expressions and that old adage that moms always tell you when you’re a child always pops to mind here – ‘be careful or your face will stay that way’  – sorry but you know it’s true.

Michelle Dockery, “Downton Abbey”

While I love the show – and her character of Mary has been through some moments – I just don’t think it’s a strong enough role to win here..

Julianna Margulies, “The Good Wife” – WINNER

Now we are talking… Let’s just give a slow clap first of all to the best season of ‘The Good Wife’ yet.  Season 5.  It was incredible and a lot of those kudos go right to this person here.

Kerry Washington, “Scandal”

What started off in Season 1 as an interesting premise did what Shonda Rhimes shows do and it so jumped the shark for me in Season 2 & beginning of Season 3 it’s pretty much unwatchable for me now.  Soooo over everyone trying to outfast talk the next actor.. so over this show and while I like Kerry.,you can’t compare her performance to that of Julianna Marguilies – you just can’t.

Robin Wright, “House of Cards”

Always have liked Robin Wright.. since way back in “The Princess Bride” – I wish I could say I’ve watched it here.

Best Actor in a Drama Series

 Bryan Cranston, “Breaking Bad”

One of the best performances ever done on TV – We felt sympathy at the beginning which later turned to fear of the man that was Walter White.

Jeff Daniels, “The Newsroom”

Great show – great character & performance ..

Jon Hamm, “Mad Men”

Again, tell me one person that does not have a Love/Hate thing for Don Draper.. it takes talent to pull that off.

Woody Harrelson, “True Detective”

It’s a hard decision for me to pick between the two characters on this show as both were just fantastic

Matthew McConaughey, “True Detective” – WINNER

But I’m going with Matthew & Rust Cohle – why..because as good as Woody was it is Rust’s character that blew this show out of the box.  Probably have never seen a character nor performance like it..so please let’s continue on with the McConaissance …please!!! 😀

Kevin Spacey, “House of Cards”

Kevin Spacey is also a consummate professional wonderful actor.  Keyser Soze anyone?? 😀

Supporting Actor, Drama Series

 Aaron Paul, “Breaking Bad”

Bitch.. hahahahhahaha

Jim Carter, “Downton Abbey”

I  can keep saying how much I love the show – but I think it’s almost too much of an ensemble to just pick one character out of it.

Peter Dinklage, “Game of Thrones”

I LOVE PETER DINKLAGE.. there I said it.. he’s a spectacular actor in everything from ‘The Station Agent’ to “Nip/Tuck to  X-Men – but this role was definitely just tailor-made for him..

Josh Charles, “The Good Wife” – WINNER

Of course I would pick Josh Charles – why you ask.. because losing Will Gardner felt like losing a family member and anyone that can make you feel that.. deserves an award.

Mandy Patinkin, “Homeland”

I’ve never related a ton to this character though I find him a complete necessity on the show.. I know..weird.

Jon Voight, “Ray Donovan”

For the whole first season of this show, I couldn’t figure out whether it was just plain brilliant or just plain bad.. I went with I like it and that’s all that matters.  Though I usually like my bad characters to have some redeeming quality to make me like them, Jon Voights character has never done that for me.

Supporting Actress, Drama Series

Anna Gunn, “Breaking Bad”

5 seasons of Skyler White.. at times we pitied her, sympathized with her, didn’t like her and at the end, we were just overwhelmed with where her life started and finished in this show.. Bravo Anna Gunn…well done.

Maggie Smith, “Downton Abbey”

I mean she’s Dame Maggie Smith for crimeny sakes.  The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie was on TV a few years back and she was so simply fantastic in that role..as she has been in pretty much everything she’s ever done.

Lena Headey, “Game of Thrones”

Oh Lena, you play the gamut in this role of roles.. but you actually kinda scare me too much!!  ha!

Christine Baranski, “The Good Wife” – WINNER

Because dammit she IS and embodies Diane Lockhart.  Nothing else needs to be said.

Christina Hendricks, “Mad Men”

I just don’t think she had enough in her role this past season to quantify this nomination.  Had it been last season, I would have said yes.. This season I’m sorry but the fact that Elizabeth Moss aka Peggy Olson didn’t get this nom instead is just wrong.. she blew it off the screen this year.. Christina did not.

Joanne Froggatt, “Downton Abbey”

I know this might be odd…but I think she is totally the long shot to win this and just might do so.  Her portrayal of Anna Bates was so spot on this season that in such a large ensemble cast – she stood out..waaaay out and excelled completely in this role.

TOP 10 T.V. SHOWS I AM WATCHING RIGHT NOW!!! – and you should be too!!

So many shows are winding down with season finales and many new ones approaching which I am looking forward to a few of them. There is always 1 or 2 new shows worth watching and 3 or 4 worth letting go of.  I usually give a show 2 eps. to suck me in..unless of course it’s something like “Bad Teacher” which got all of 10-15min of my time or “The Black Box” which I actually gave a whole episode ot time watching though I don’t know why and it took me 3 days to get through it.

So here we go..

Image

10. “Continuum” (Syfy Channel)                                                                   This is a really fun show in already it’s 3rd season that makes time-travel seem actually realistic about a Detective from the year 2077 who with a a shake of a terrorist blast, finds herself back in present day Vancouver. With the good acting of the main leads, Rachel Nichols “Kiera Cameron”, Victor Webster “Carlos Fonnegra”, Erik Knutsen “Alec Sadler”, and a strong supporting cast, you are still probably wondering why would I watch a Syfy show..Well in case you haven’t clued in, they have definitely become the new, fun network of original programming that is actually a lot better than 1/2 the shows spoon-fed to you by network TV.

Image

9. “The Goldbergs” (ABC)                                                                            Okay..I know it’s not the funniest show, but it so brings back childhood/teen year memories and that makes it fun for me.  I think it’s a lot funnier than some of the crap put out there. They are so over the top, yet we all knew that Mom aka Beverly Goldberg played wonderfully “Wendi McLendon-Covey” with her wonderful 80’s hairdo, Dad, Murray Goldberg “Jeff Garlin” who always does something to embarrass his kids..And who didn’t have an annoying brother, Barry Goldberg “Troy Gentile” or nerdy one Adam Goldberg “Sean Giabrone” to bug the ‘cool’ sister, Erica Goldberg “Hayley Orrantia” to get us through our day. So yeah..I like it and it got renewed for a 2nd season..sooooo… 😀  #bringbackthe80’s

8.”Awkward” (MTV)                                                                                     Since MTV hasn’t actually showed a music video in years, and became host to a rash of REALLY bad reality TV.. this show has been a fresh exception since it began a few years back.  Even though it might be a bit juvenile, good casting & writing along with some catchy catch phrases “Your Welcome” make this show continually fresh.

7. “Nurse Jackie” (Showtime)                                                                   With award kudos going to Edie Falco “Nurse Jackie Peyton” & Merrit Weaver’s “Zoey Barkow” win (and best acceptance speech EVER) 😀  This show with it’s ever-revolving fantastic supporting cast, has been a winner since it’s inception in 2009.  The story lines and plot are ever changing from dark to darker in the life of Nurse Jackie and her evolving drug addiction which is always prevalant to the show, even when she is sober. Characters come and go on this show, some you love, some..not so much…but it’s always a fun ride.

6. “The Blacklist” (NBC)                                                                              Yes, technically this show had it’s season finale last night and should not be included on ’10 shows I am watching now’ but damn, James Spader just deserves a nod for his truly amazing character “Raymond ‘Red’ Reddington” as he is just a wonder to watch as he has been in most of his TV shows.  I’m not super fond of the lead, Megan Boone as “Elizabeth Keen” as I think she overacts her role a bit much, but with the hottness of Diego Klattenhoff as “Donald Ressler” and again, Spader balancing her out..plus throw in some Ryan Eggold “Tom Keen” and you can easily overlook it.  For a network show that just got renewal, yeah..I’m all in.

5. “Mr. Selfridge” (PBS)                                                                           You know I love my British TV.. and this show on PBS is really outstanding. It stars Jeremy Piven as “Harry Selfridge” in the real life story of the flamboyant founder of yep..you guessed it, Selfridges, which still stands in London today.  As an American businessman ‘invading’ England, and a complete visionary of trends to come with the idea that shopping should be fun & not a chore,  Harry Selfridge really became a man of huge wealth, whom was known for always treating his employee’s fairly and became well respected. He also died stone cold broke because of his lavish lifestyle and gambling.  Ah well.. Season 2 in still in the early parts of his life and I am enjoying it immensely.

4. “Hannibal” (NBC)                                                                                   For a network TV, this show is simply put, MIND-BOGGLING.  It scares the shit out of me almost every week and that rarely ever happens to me. I can’t help but to keep watching it..The first 2 eps.of this season literally scarred me for a very long time to come and made me realize NOTHING else might be that scary.  It’s not so much that it’s gory..as it has some gore..trust me, but that the main characters in some scenes are just plain scary as shit.  The main characters played by the wonderful, immaculate looking Mads Mikkelson “Dr, Hannibal Lector” and oh so cute, Hugh Dancy as “Will Graham” suck you into their vortex of WHOA! and hold you there week after week.  Lawrence Fishburne as FBI man “Jack Crawford” just makes it a wonderful three-some of an excellent body of work.  You know all about the movie..but you MUST watch this take on the ‘Hannibal’ series to really see something special..I think it airs so late on a Friday night so they can get away with all the shit they do on this wonderful show! After all it’s a Mads,Mads, Mads, Mads world – and we just inhabit it alongside him..:D

3.  “The Good Wife” (CBS)                                                                        This show has always been one of my favs..but HOT DAMN Season 5 has been by far the BEST season of this show ever!! Again, a network TV show that takes it beyond the limits of good to great..with the writing and the absolutely superb acting from all characters..even the kids!! 😀  I mean Julianna Marguiles has always been spectacular as “Alicia Florrick” with Josh Charles aka “Will Gardner” & Christine Baranski “Diane Lockhart” making ‘Lockhart/Gardner’ one of the hottest law firms ever on T.V. Rounding out the top 5 of cast with Matt Czuchry “Cary Agos” and the fantastic Archie Panjabi as “Kalinda Sharma” along with too many great co-stars to name..just WOW!..  And with the shocker of the ages that they gave us mid-season..i’m not even sure how they kept that so quiet..but again just HOT DAMN!! And now with Florrick/Agos & Lockhart/??? we are just not sure what to expect next…AND the addition of Matthew Goode as a series regular.. it’s like nothing can stop this season from being head & shoulders above the others..

2. “24 – Live Another Day”                                                                           JACK IS BACK!!! And I could just leave it at that and not have to say anymore as anyone who has watched this show can attest to. But yet, I do want to say more.. Kiefer Sutherland as “Jack Bauer” resurrected his career single-handedly with this show back in 2001 and along with Mary Lynn Rajskub as the insurmountable “Chloe O’Brian” has brought this show back better than ever.  Oh how I missed the counting clock and Jack Bauer narrating the time.. It’s like I got transported back to really good T.V. again via London this time..and with Benjamin Bratt “Steve Navarro” NO LESS!!! WHEEEEE!!! there has only been 2 eps..well 3..if you count the 1st was 2 hrs..and 2 hrs, of the ’24’ clock was a-ticking!!  Can’t wait to see what happens in the rest of the season but rest assured..Jack Bauer always has something up his sleeve!

1. “Orphan Black” (BBC)                                                                             As I always say..if you’re not watching Orphan Black..then seriously WHAT ON EARTH ARE YOU DOING???!!!  Never have I seen a show like this one.  I remember the pilot episode so well..the first 3 min were just overwhelming and you didn’t know what to think except that you were in it to win it!! Tatiana Maslany is sooooo sooooo sooooo good as all her characters on this show..”Sarah Manning/Cosima Niehaus/Allison Hendrix/Rachel Duncan” just to name a few.. And the supporting cast..just great additions but there is no doubt..this show is Tatiana’s hands down. This show is seriously like no other and I remember trying to tell people about it and to watch, getting a response of ‘what..what is that show, I’ve never heard of it’ blah blah blah..well next time..trust me because this 2nd season started off with a bang and will definitely keep you glued to your seat. And oh yeah.. GET WATCHING IT ALL!!!

PS.. a mention here should go out to ‘Game of Thrones’ as I will be watching it, just only wanted to pay for one month of HBO so I will be doing a 5 eps. bomb-watching of it all and then watching each week..tee hee.. hey..ya gotta do what you gotta do!! 😀
